Attaches a copy of a letter he has sent to Ruth LaPrade, indicating that no one is censoring Edwin Markham's mail as the poet is unable to write anymore. Millard himself has not received a letter in over a year. In his cover letter to Virgil, Millard remarks that she is an "infernal nuisance." Written on Los Angeles Times letterhead.

Bailey Millard (1859-1941) was born in Markesan, Wisconsin. Much of his education was obtained as a printer's devil and tramp printer. He worked his way west through a succession of newspaper and printing shops. In the 1890s he was city editor or literary editor of the San Francisco Call and the Examiner, and in 1918-1919 was managing editor of the San Francisco Evening Bulletin .
